A Dundee sports club looks set to capitalise on future nice weather with the installation of a new balcony, after its proposal was accepted by city planners.
Bosses at Forthill Sports Club plan to install the overhanging viewing deck on the building’s south-facing facade, overlooking the playing fields to the rear.
The renovation will also see the rest of the building — a long-standing community fixture — brought up to scratch with the installation of modern double-glazed windows.
Despite receiving two letters of objection from people concerned about privacy issues and additional noise, city planners gave the plans their approval.
However, they imposed a condition on the proposals that would see 6ft high screening installed along one edge of the balcony to address residents’ concerns.
A report published by Dundee City Council’s planning department said: “The application has been granted because the proposed viewing deck and external alterations are of an acceptable design and would have no detrimental impact on residential amenity.”
The club, which is situated on Fintry Drive, in Broughty Ferry, is a popular social venue in the local community.
It hosts a number of rugby and cricket fixtures throughout the year on its fields.
