Dundee sign international defender as they plug defensive gap after Jack Hendry transfer

Dundee have today added to their defensive options following the departure of Jack Hendry to Celtic.

The Dee have signed Angolan international Genseric Kusunga on a short term deal until the summer.

The 29-year-old former Basel and Oldham centre back could go in to tomorrow’s team to face Ross County, subject to international clearance.

He will wear the number 5 jersey, recently worn by James McPake who retired earlier this week.

With Jack Hendry’s move to Celtic and Dundee down to four fit centre backs, Neil McCann has moved to bolster his defence.

Kusunga was teammates with Dark Blues cult hero Gary Harkins during their time together at English League One side Oldham.

The big defender will always be remember by Latics fans for scoring the winner at the death in a dramatic 5-4 win over Peterborough United in 2013.

Oldham came back from 3-0 with Kusunga stealing the points – and earning himself cult status among fans at the club.
