A major fire has left a Dundee high school engulfed in flames.
Firefighters were called to Braeview Academy around 9pm with reports of flames reaching 30ft in the air.
At least six fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
Police sealed off streets in Whitfield and the area around the blaze to allow firefighters to tackle the huge fire.
Dundee City Council leader John Alexander said the flames had taken hold of the roof of the building.
He wrote on social media: “Worrying scenes – a major fire has taken hold at Braview Academy.
“I’m in touch with senior officers who are en-route and I’m awaiting updates from coleagues in Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
“I’m hoping that no one is injured and that it looks worse than it actually is.
“It’s a rapidly moving situation with more appliances en-route to the fire at Braview.
“It seems that the fire has taken hold of the entire roof section and they are attempting to flood the roof.
“I don’t know more than that at his stage but clearly an extensive amount of damage.”
It’s not clear at this stage if anyone has been hurt as a result of the fire.
