Dundee rape: grey taxi towed away as forensics scour scene

Police investigating the rape of a woman near Dundee city centre have towed away a taxi parked within a cordon.

An 18-year-old woman was attacked in West Henderson’s Wynd last night around 8.15pm.

A man wearing a hooded top and Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

He is said to be around 5ft7in to 5ft8in tall, had a Scottish accent, was of a medium to heavy build and has short hair.

Officers sealed off an area around the scene and have since removed a taxi parked within the cordon.

Forensics officers could be seen scouring the area and appeared to examining the grey Peugeot.

The vehicle was then pulled on to the back of a recovery vehicle and taken away.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham Binnie said investigations were at an “early stage”.

He added: “This is a horrific crime but I would like to stress that incidents of this nature are very rare and our priority is to identify and find the person responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area between 8pm and 8.30pm, either on foot or in a vehicle to come forward because you might have vital information that can assist our inquiry.”
