Dundee City Council has named Michael McNeil as its apprentice of the year.
Michael a second-year apprentice gas engineer, was presented with the Bill McKay Trophy.
Grant Cuthill, a second year painter, was named as the runner-up.
The trophy was donated in memory of the late Bill McKay, who served as deputy director of contract services – which is now part of the council’s neighbourhood services department – from 1984 to 1993.
The trophy is presented once a year to the trainee employee who has achieved the best results at college and work.
Councillor Anne Rendall, deputy convener of neighbourhood services, said: “I would like to congratulate this year’s winner Michael and runner up Grant.
“I know they both put in a lot of hard work over the course of their apprenticeship.
“The council has fantastic apprenticeship schemes that help and encourage our young people to gain skills and qualifications.”
