A young couple who started a photography business in 2011 are in line to scoop a prestigious European award.
Husband and wife team Darren and Sarah Hendry were previously ranked among the top 30 rising wedding photographers in the world by industry bible Rangefinder.
The couple are among UK finalists in Bodaf, a wedding photography convention being held in Barcelona next week.
And their meteoric rise all started after they got heir first wedding gig at Piperdam in 2011, after “randomly” placing an advert on internet selling page Gumtree.
Since then the couple have shot weddings in a number of locations including an ice chapel in Lapland and the Amalfi Coast.
They now plan to move to Los Angeles in a bid to crack the US wedding market.
Despite only starting their company seven years ago the couple’s images have featured on renowned fashion magazine Cosmopolitan’s website.
Former Harris Academy pupil Darren, 33, said he would have never have expected to be where they are now.
He said: “Dundee was where we started this journey. It has helped us along in many ways too — we used the city and its rebirth development as an inspiration.”
The former Dryburgh man added: “We always wanted to make a proper go at photography to earn a living so randomly published an advert on Gumtree one day. Since then we’ve been building the business and have travelled all over the world.
“We’re UK finalists in Bodaf Europe, which is a massive European photography conference in Spain.
“We are moving to the States next year to try to move into the wedding market there and other projects.”
