He is one of the best known magicians in Tayside and he is now 72 years young.
However, unlike some of his props, Adrian Harris is not disappearing.
Since his older sister Naomi gave him a box of tricks for his ninth birthday, Adrian has been hooked on magic.
He has performed hundreds, possibly thousands, of shows and entertained countless numbers of people.
Retired after working in the prison service and NHS Tayside, Adrian is still putting on shows with a big smile on his face.
The man they call Perth’s Mr Magic has not only performed in Britain but also in Australia, Canada and Switzerland.
“I love magic, I love entertaining and will keep on doing so until I fall into my big box of tricks and disappear permanently,” he said.
Adrian tried to join the Magic Circle aged 14 but in those days folk had to wait until they were 18.
Adrian did just that and, at the same time, he signed up with the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
He has since been presented with his 50-year certificate and now has an Order of Merit in Excalibur.
Despite his age, Adrian is full of life, the enthusiasm he had when he first performed a magic trick having never dimmed.
He laughs when he recalls one trick which didn’t quite go to plan.
Adrian said: “When I was 16, my parents gave me two doves as a present to use in my act.
“However, one night when performing in a hall they flew out of my hand and settled on a ledge. No amount of persuading would entice them down.”
Like everyone else of his age, Adrian’s life has had its ups and downs.
However, with his ready smile, Adrian still entertains people of all ages with his marvellous magic.
He is also encouraging the next generation of magicians to get involved with his club, Perth Magic Circle.
