Hundreds raised after friend’s cancer motivates Dundee girl to cut hair

Toys and games have been donated to the Sunshine Box at Tayside Children’s Hospital, which is attached to Ninewells Hospital.

Sarah Lamont, 13, from Inchture, raised £570 by cutting off a whopping 11 inches of her hair.

She used the money to buy toys, books, games and much more for children of all ages.

She also donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust. Sarah said: “My big brother raised money for Cash For Kids and that inspired me to do something.

“My friend is being treated for cancer, so I thought I could cut my hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust and raise money for the Sunshine Box at the same time.”

Charge nurse Kim Mollison said: “A big thank you to Sarah for her generous donation. We are looking forward to handing out the gifts to children to distract them from what is going on around then when they come into the unit.”
