Local kids were getting fighting fit this summer thanks to Navarro’s Fighting and Fitness Gym summer camp in Dundee.
The camp was attended by 10 kids aged up to 11.
The youngsters took part in three morning training sessions and two afternoon sessions.
Furah Ishaq, who ran the classes alongside owner Marc Navarro, said: “We started each day with a good warm up followed by circuit training which included building fitness and reactions.
“A favourite station the children really enjoyed was the tyre flipping which is a great strength-building exercise.
“After a little break we focused on boxing. The children carried out shadow boxing and an important part of this was practising and building their footwork as that is a huge part of being a boxer.
“We had the children pairing up and practising combinations and footwork with each other.
“Our older kids also worked with the younger children carrying out pad work and while this was going on the children would receive one-to-ones with Marc or myself.
“The children finished each session with some stomach and core work, along with a good stretch of the whole body.
“The children had such great fun and made new friends.
“They built up boxing and fitness skills and along with this they were building their confidence, social and communication skills.
“It was a great way for younger children to build their hand-eye co-ordination.”
Although the summer camp at Fairmuir Street is over, there is still a chance to get involved in the club.
Furah added: “Children aged four-seven are always welcome to join our classes on Monday and Wednesday at 5pm at Navarro’s Fitness and Fighting Gym.
