They may only be aged nine – and some are even younger – but the girls who form Scone U/9s are football daft.
The youngsters recently received their trophies at the club’s prizegiving and they can’t wait to get back into action.
So much so that they are continuing to train at Robert Douglas Memorial Primary School every Monday, with sessions getting under way as soon as the school day finishes.
Once the bell rings, it’s off with the school shoes and on with the football boots.
Andrew Milne, an official with the Scone girls set-up which is getting bigger all the time, said: “We have about 20 girls at U/9 and U/11 level.
“It’s a good number but we are always looking for more. Any girls wishing to join us can come along to training.
“The U/9 girls play at football festivals and they are keen to get playing again when the season starts in a couple of months.
“There are exciting times ahead for girls’ football and we aim to be part of that.”
