Four charities have received a total of £3,500 thanks to Red Lion Caravan Park.
The bingo nights that are held throughout the year enabled the organisers to divide £3,000 of donations between Macmillan Cancer Research, Arbroath Salvation Army, Maggie’s Centre and the Arbroath Community Council.
And a coffee morning raised a further £500 for Maggie’s.
Isabel Shinnie, chairwoman of Red Lion Caravan Park bingo, and also a resident, said: “We take 10% of whatever money we raise each night at the bingo.
“We then choose charities that we can donate the money too.
“This year I chose the Arbroath Salvation Army who received £1,000 for all the work they are going to be doing with the homeless and elderly in the area this winter.
“They will be purchasing gifts for lots of the elderly which I thought was a great cause.
“The Salvation Army were so grateful for the donation and I could tell they were over the moon with the money.
“Macmillan Cancer Research and Maggie’s each received £1,000 – with £500 of the funds for Maggie’s coming from a coffee morning we held.
“The last £500 was donated to Arbroath Community Council for this year’s Christmas lights.
“Since there is no longer funding for the lights we thought it would be a good way to give back to the local community.
“This is my third year as bingo caller at the park and our charity donations are so important to us so that we can give back to those in need in the community.
“All of us at the park would like to say a massive thank you to all the bingo players who have contributed throughout this year.
“Without their amazing support we would not have achieved such an amazing total.”
