Staff at a Dundee shop have helped to raise £90,000 for a local children’s charity.
The Co-op store in Barnhill, near Broughty Ferry, was one of 142 of the company’s stores across northern Scotland which took part in a month of fundraising for north-east-based children’s charity, the Archie Foundation.
The foundation provides support for sick children in hospital or those who require long-term medical treatment.
It also undertakes fundraising projects for specialist equipment, including a new twin operating suite at the Tayside Children’s Hospital in Ninewells.
Alan Johnston, Co-op’s regional manager – pictured above presenting the cheque to David Wood, Archie’s CEO – said: “The work of Archie must never be taken for granted – its people do so much to help ease the burden of families affected by ill health and we are thrilled to have raised such a significant sum of money.
“We hope it will go some small way into improving the lives of children and teens who are going through a difficult time.”
