Bright idea boost for cyclists

Youngsters in Maryfield have been provided with bike lights as part of a programme funded by Police Scotland.

The programme is run with help from the DISC Target Project, along with Nicholson’s Cycles in Maryfield.

Lennon Henderson, Jack Frame and Steven Wilson received their new lights from the store, with Maryfield Community Sergeant Alex Munro and DISC Target Project’s Allan Howieson in attendance to make sure everything went to plan.

The ongoing initiative aims to keep local youngsters safe when out and about on their bikes.

It is also hoped that it will help promote safe and responsible cycling among their peers.

Police Scotland said: “We’re hoping to roll this out across the city in the near future.”
