A bookshop manager is setting off on a 275-mile journey to the Outer Hebrides, armed with more than 600 books for school children.
Robin Crawford, from Waterstone’s in Commercial Street, will travel to Benbecula in the Western Isles as the bookseller brings a two day pop-up bookshop to Lionacleit School, as part of the First Minister’s Reading Challenge.
The school is the only secondary school serving Benbecula and North and South Uist and access to books is limited.
The bookshop will be open to pupils, parents and the wider community, offering a selection of books in English and Gaelic.
Robin said: “I am delighted to be making this journey to create a bookshop experience for book lovers on Benbecula.”
