Youngsters dressed up and got the chance to meet unofficial mascot Pirate Bob.

Children also had their faces painted and took part in sand art activities.

There was even a special curator’s tour of the Music of Maritime Life.

Billy Rough, education officer at the Unicorn, said: “It was such a fantastic day.

“It was incredibly busy despite it being a glorious sunny day. We were delighted to have live music courtesy of Big Noise Douglas and a motley crew of pirates from Medieval Methil Re-enactment Society entertained families.

“Pirate Bob was, of course, on hand to entertain kids with lots of pirate games.

“Look out for our next family fun day in October.”

The next fun day will take place on October 20.
