A mum has thanked the donors who saved her child’s life “nine times”.
Gemma Edwards, of Broughty Ferry, spoke at Dundee Blood Donor Centre’s annual awards in the City Chambers.
The teacher and mum-of-one thanked the donors who provided nine blood and platelet transfusions to her daughter Skye, now two, who was born with a “mystery illness”.
Gemma, 36, added: “You saved my child’s life nine times. You may think you, like me, are an ordinary person who shops on a Saturday morning and drinks a glass or two of red wine on Saturday night while watching Game of Thrones. But to me, you are far from ordinary — you are extraordinary, you are the reason I am standing here today.”
