A motorist who was found to be almost seven times the drink drive limit while behind the wheel in Dundee has escaped a prison sentence.
Michael Grogan, 42, of Deveron Crescent, admitted driving with 143 mics of alcohol in 100ml of breath on September 2 on Arklay Street and Clepington Road.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Grogan was told by Sheriff John Rafferty: “This is a very high reading, a custodial sentence has to be a consideration.
“However there is an alternative available to me that is a community payback order with unpaid work.”
He ordered him to complete 140 hours of unpaid work within six months, under supervision.
He also disqualified Grogan from driving for 42 months, which would be reduced by six months if he completes the drink-drivers rehabilitation scheme.
