The Tele’s lead football writer Tom Duthie has given his verdict on the future of Dundee FC after the sacking of Neil McCann.
Speaking exclusively to our friends at Wave FM in the box above, Tom reveals why the club chose to dismiss Neil McCann but expresses surprise at the timing of the decision.
He also believes that all “obvious” candidates to succeed the former Sky Sports pundit have drawbacks.
Examples include Kenny Miller and Jim McIntyre, who could be hindered by his association with Billy Dodds, who became unpopular with some Dundee fans during the 2010 administration period.
Tom explained: “Jim McIntyre is available but he comes with Billy Dodds who, through no fault of his own, isn’t the most popular person with Dundee fans these days. Dundee need to take this into account because they need the fans behind them.”
Tom also reveals that Ayr United boss Ian McCall is a frontrunner for the Dens Park hot seat.
