A man who admitted repeatedly hitting his brother with a hammer was told by a sheriff he should not represent himself in court, as he was “seriously considering” sending him to prison.
Kieran Johnston, 32, of Dudhope Court, told Dundee Sheriff Court he did not want a solicitor.
However, Sheriff Alastair Brown told him he was going to defer sentence to allow him to organise legal representation. “I am seriously considering a custodial sentence so you should get yourself a solicitor,” he said.
Johnston previously admitted the assault on Ethan Johnston on August 25 last year at Murrayfield Gardens, and twice failing to appear at court – on February 20 and November 9 last year.
Sentence was deferred until June 7.
