A man in his 20s was taken to hospital after a family dog bit off part of his ear.
Police and ambulance crews descended on to Court Street following the incident.
Arsalan Haider, 24, a manager at Court Street News, said customers had seen the emergency services in the area.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended at an address on Court Street around 9.30am on Monday in response to reports of a man having been bitten and injured by a dog.
“After inquiries were made, in particular with the injured man, it was confirmed the dog was a family pet which had not been dangerously out of control and no further action was required.
“The injured man was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment to a head wound.”
