A man who stole a TV and a mobile phone from his partner’s uncle’s home had sentence deferred at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Andrew Mason, 22, of Arklay Terrace, heard Nadine Kelbie’s uncle had bought the TV and phone using money accrued from her benefits.

The court was told Kelbie had been using her uncle’s bank account and it had grown to a significant sum.

Mason’s solicitor David Duncan said he thought he had the right to take the items, although he accepted it was wrong and admitted theft from the flat in Weaver’s Yard on October 4.

Kelbie, 21, also of Arklay Terrace, had her plea of not guilty to the same theft charge accepted by the crown.

Mason’s sentence was deferred for reports by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael.
