Dundee’s first team players might still be waiting on news of who will be their manager next season but that hasn’t stopped the Dark Blues moving to secure the future of six youngsters.
All impressed with the U/20s Development side this season and have been rewarded with new deals.
Jesse Curran, Sam Dryden, Calum Ferrie, Kyle Gourlay, Ian Smith and Kerr Waddell have all put pen to paper.
All have been involved in the senior team at some stage.
Most notably midfielder Jesse Curran, who featured twice in the past season — a 10-minute cameo in a 7-0 League Cup win over Forfar back in July and then a start in December in a 0-0 draw with Ross County.
He subsequently spent the last few months of the season on loan at East Fife where he impressed under Dee legend and former Tele man Barry Smith.
Twenty-year-old defender Sam Dryden spent the second half of 2015/16 on loan at Elgin while goalkeeper Calum Ferrie has been a regular on the bench at times this season for the Dark Blues first team.
Fellow keeper Kyle Gourlay played six times for Clyde in League Two towards the end of this season alongside another Development player in Kerr Waddell
Ian Smith, meanwhile, signed from Hearts last summer, has popped up on the first-team bench under Dens Park interim boss Neil McCann.
