Dundee International Women’s Centre (DIWC) has forged a partnership with an unlikely ally – an ethical jewellery producer based in California.
Show The Love has agreed to share 40% of its profits from selected sales of its handcrafted pieces with the charity until the end of the year.
Fatima Ramzan, a project worker at the DIWC, said the company behind the firm had “loved” what the centre does to help women from all walks of life.
“Show the Love were very impressed by what we’re doing, including the way we train professionals on harmful practices (such as female genital mutilation) and said they were willing to support our cause,” she said.
“It is amazing someone in the US wants to support us.”
Anyone wishing to support DIWC can do so by using the code DIWC40 when buying jewellery on ShowTheLove.com.
Jen Pleasants, of Show The Love, learnt about DIWC through a friend who originally hails from Dundee. She said: “We look for causes that uplift women that we can support and DIWC was a perfect fit.”
