A Dundee FC player has been charged with assault after allegedly attacking a security guard at a city nightclub.
Paul McGowan was arrested by police after a complaint was made by a member of the door staff at the Underground nightclub in South Tay Street.
The 30-year-old midfielder was arrested and charged – and is now set to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.
A police spokesman said officers had been called to the club following reports of an assault.
He said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 30-year-old man was arrested in South Tay Street, Dundee, shortly after 2am yesterday in connection with an alleged assault.
“He was charged and released on an undertaking to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date, and a report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
