Employers across Dundee and Angus are being offered the chance to discuss the benefits of recruiting from the one in three men and one in 10 women who have a criminal conviction.
Dundee City Council and Angus Council have partnered with the social enterprise Recruit With Conviction to host a regional summit on the employment and employability of people from the area with a conviction.
Since the beginning of the year, a programme of activities supported by both local authorities has increased the employment opportunities which are available.
The programme is now inviting new partners and businesses to Dundee Science Centre to raise awareness and create partnership opportunities.
Those who attend will have the chance to hear from a group of leading agencies and employers about the potential benefits for all involved.
Information and advice will be available on best practice and the methods used in recruiting from local and national partners.
Speaking ahead of today’s event, Jane Martin, Dundee City Councils’s chief social work officer, said: “We welcome working with Recruit With Conviction, this event recognises the contribution that people who have committed an offence can make and the importance of employment in terms of reducing re-offending.”
