Dundee council’s electric cars nominated for top awards

Dundee City Council’s commitment to electric vehicles has been recognised, with the local authority shortlisted for a number of industry awards.

The council’s fleet team has been nominated for three gongs at the Fleet News Awards, run by trade magazine Fleet News.

Those awards are Fleet of the Year (up to 1,000 vehicles), the ECO Fleet Award and Outstanding Cost Control. In addition, fleet manager Gary McRae has been nominated as Fleet Manager of the Year.

At present, the council has 87 electric vehicles in its fleet, ranging from Nissan electric vans to Kias and Citroens.

City development convener Lynne Short said: “I am delighted that Dundee City Council continues to be recognised in the fleet, manufacturer and supplier sectors at this year’s Fleet News Awards.

“These are just some of the results we get from running zero emission vehicles in our fleet.”

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London on March 14.
