A city bakery has been refused permission to run a takeaway near a retail park.
Clarks Bakery had hoped to operate a portable takeaway unit as well as associated car parking from land to the northwest of the Myrekirk Road roundabout at Kingsway West.
But planning chiefs at Dundee City Council turned down an application, made on the company’s behalf by Peter Inglis Architects, believing it would have a “detrimental impact” to the area.
The council said the application was not in line with the Dundee Local Development Plan.
An objection letter was also submitted by Transport Scotland.
In the decision notice, Gregor Hamilton, head of planning and economic development, said: “The proposed hot food take-away would have a detrimental impact on the character and visual amenity of the application site which is in a prominent position.”
