Dundee City Council has issued a statement after a major fire decimated a city school.
Firefighters were called to Braeview Academy around 9pm with reports of flames reaching 40ft in the air.
Every fire and police crew in the north of the city spent last night tackling the blaze at the secondary school in the Whitfield area.
More than 50 firefighters were attempting to flood the building to dampen down the vigorous flames.
Nobody is thought to be injured.
A council statement this morning says that firefighters remain on the site battling the blaze.
It said: “Emergency services are currently dealing with a major fire at Braeview Academy.
“The school will be CLOSED to pupils and staff on Wednesday.
“A further update will be provided after the fire is extinguished and an assessment of the building has been carried out.
“Staff are advised that we will seek to arrange a meeting with them at around 11am on Wednesday.
“The location and further details will be confirmed in the morning – please check our social media and website for updates.”

A statement from the school on Twitter said: “Devastating news that, due to fire damage, the school will be closed to all staff and pupils on Wednesday.
“Information will be communicated to staff, parents and carers, as it becomes available. Please keep tuned to social media and local radio for updates.”
Paul Clancy, executive director of children and families, said: “We will work very closely with all our partners to make sure Braeview Academy pupils’ education does not suffer as a result of this.”
One witness reported seeing flames rise up to 40 feet in the fear, with the spread from one end of the building to the other in just 20 minutes.
Another said “the whole sky is red.”
Council leader Cllr John Alexander tweeted last night: “Rapidly moving situation with more appliances en-route to the fire at Braview.
“It seems that the fire has taken hold of the entire roof section and they are attempting to flood the roof.
“I don’t know more than that at his stage but clearly an extensive amount of damage.”
