City councillors have approved spending more than £600,000 on housing in the Whitfield area of Dundee.
Members of the council’s neighbourhood services committee agreed to a recommendation from director Elaine Zwirlein to spend £653,212 renewing PVC weathering boarding to the vertical edges of roofs.
She explained the works comprised the renewal of existing timber weatherboard cladding finishes to existing monopitch- tiled roof structures on 38 homes at Murrayfield Gardens.
She confirmed that none of the properties was on the council’s demolition programme for Whitfield.
The work is due to begin in October with completion expected in March.
Ms Zwirlein said that funding for the project was available in the housing revenue fund budget.
The committee also agreed to spend £3.2 million on external wall insulation for 415 houses in Craigiebank and Broughty Ferry.
