Plans to convert a former funeral parlour in Ardler into a tanning salon have been approved.
Dundee City Council has granted planning permission to Robert Russell to change the use of the premises at 51 Macalpine Road.
A spokesman for the local authority said: “The application is contrary to the Dundee Local Development Plan 2014 but has been granted because the proposal site is located in an existing parade of local shops.
“Given the scale and nature of the proposal, it is unlikely to attract significant footfall and as such impact on the vitality and viability of existing shopping centres.
“These are material considerations of sufficient weight to justify approval of the application contrary to the development plan. There are no other material considerations that would justify the refusal of planning permission.”
No planning conditions have been imposed.
