Dundee in contract talks with key men

Contract talks with Mark O'Hara and Lewis Spence are under way.

With the transfer window finally shut on Wednesday night, Dundee manager Neil McCann’s focus can switch to securing the future of some of his out-of-contract players.

A number of the Dark Blues squad have their current deals coming to an end this summer and work is already under way to extend the stay of key personnel.

Midfielder Mark O’Hara has drawn interest from Motherwell but has stated his desire to stay at Dens Park.

Discussions over his extension have been ongoing since before Christmas and he’s hopeful they will be done in the near future.

Also in initial talks about a new contract is midfielder Lewis Spence.

The former Dunfermline man signed a one-year deal in June after leaving the Pars and has impressed with some battling performances in midfield this campaign.

The manager is also looking to tie down Paul McGowan to fresh terms while Josh Meekings has had discussions over an extension, too.

His deal, signed in August, had an option of a further year and it’s likely that will be taken up.

Among the other players out of contract in the summer are Kevin Holt, Elliott Parish, Jon Aurtenetxe, Julen Etxabeguren, Kosta Gadzhalov and goalkeeper Jeremy Malherbe.
