Bakery chain Greggs has promised that its new vegan-friendly sausage roll will arrive in Tayside in future – despite not being available at any local branches at launch.
However, while scores of bakeries in England and a handful in Glasgow and Edinburgh took delivery, Dundee and Perth missed out.
Customers in Fife are more fortunate, though, with the Euro Garage in Kirkcaldy stocking the new snack.
A Greggs spokesman said: “Our Vegan Sausage Rolls are only available in 900 shops at the moment. We love Dundee – maybe they’ll be there one day.”
City centre bakeries in Aberdeen, Inverness and Stirling also failed to make the cut – although Stirling motorway services has them in stock.
The treat was launched in response to a petition by animal welfare organisation Peta that attracted 20,000 signatures.
It is made with a “bespoke” Quorn filling, layers of puff pastry and vegetable oil.
