A packed Caird Hall was evacuated ahead of the Dundee University winter graduations today.
Thousands were seated within the Dundee City Centre awaiting the first ceremony which was due to being at 10am.
However an alarm went off within the iconic venue forcing graduates, family members and university staff out on to the City Square.
Firefighters attended the scene and it was quickly discovered to have been a false alarm.
Officers wearing full protective gear and helmets could be seen making their way through the crowds into the building with a fire extinguisher.
Two fire engines were dispatched to the scene after the alarm was tripped around 9.40am.
Everyone was allowed back into the hall shortly after and it is understood the evacuation did not greatly affect proceedings.
The winter graduations will take place for the rest of the day and tomorrow, with the Schools of Education and Social Work, Life Sciences and Science and Engineering starting things off at 10am today.
