A “reckless” motorist has been blasted after being caught on camera driving on the wrong side of a Dundee road approaching a bend.
The video footage shows a silver Jaguar being driven down the wrong side of Dundee Road in Broughty Ferry after the point where two lanes merge, going round a traffic island on the opposite carriageway just before a corner.
The Jaguar narrowly avoids a silver Toyota Yaris as it turns the corner by swerving back into the correct lane and has to break sharply to avoid running into the back of a blue Mazda that has just pulled out from a side road.
The driver then pulls back out on to the opposite side of the road and overtakes the Mazda before speeding off.
IT engineer Doug Sweirczek, 34, who captured the stunt on his dash cam as he was returning home to Carnoustie after picking up his partner, said: “We were driving along and then we saw the guy come haring over the hill on the other side of the road.
“It was so dangerous — there is absolutely no need for it.”
A police spokeswoman said the force was committed to reducing road casualties as well as detecting and deterring criminality on roads.
She added: “Drivers who are detected committing offences may face fixed penalties of three points on their licence and a £100 fine, at the very least.”
