Ken Lynn, chairman of the Integration Joint Board for Dundee Health and Social Care Partnership visited the Carseview Centre to speak to staff about how mental health services are delivered.
Councillor Lynn was welcomed by Val Johnson, head of adult mental health and learning disability inpatient services, Dr David Christmas, consultant psychiatrist, Piers McGregor, inpatient manager and head of nursing, and Fiona Smith, team leader of the crisis response home treatment team.
Mr Lynn was shown around the facilities and heard about the services in place to help people experiencing mental health issues and the Community Police Triage project between NHS Tayside and Police Scotland, to support people experiencing mental illness in the community.
He said: “I was very impressed with the commitment from staff to provide the best mental health services possible. I feel much better informed following my visit and I’m particularly reassured robust arrangements are in place for those experiencing a mental health crisis.
“The close working relationship with Police Scotland is valuable and I am sure leads to many more positive outcomes.”
