Dundee City Council’s education chief has voiced concern after a fire at a former school just a week after a blaze tore through Braeview Academy.
Emergency services were called out on Tuesday night to the former St Vincent’s RC Primary School, which closed in the summer. A spokesman for Police Scotland said the fire, which was contained to a bin in the grounds, was being investigated.
An SFRS spokeswoman said the fire was put out in 15 minutes, with firefighters arriving around 10.30pm.
Stewart Hunter, the council’s convener of children and families services, said: “It’s deeply concerning to hear that this has happened just a week after Braeview.
“My worry would be there are copycats out there who have seen the Braeview fire and go and try something like this themselves. I would urge parents and the public to be extra vigilant about what is happening in their communities.”
