Community groups are being sought to take over a former GP practice and turn the building into a one-stop shop for local services.
The lease for the now-closed Stobswell Medical Practice has been offered to the Brooksbank Community Centre in Mid Craigie.
Although centre bosses have no plans to move to Stobswell themselves, they are now looking for groups local to the area to take advantage of the opportunity.
Ginny Lawson, of the Brooksbank Centre, said: “This seems to me to be an excellent opportunity to try to set up community projects and services in the Stobswell area under one roof.
“The medical centre lends itself very well to this type of use but it will be dependent on enough groups showing an interest and being prepared to come on board.
“We are working with the Stobswell Forum and our aim is to try to find services, groups and projects which will move into the medical centre and can contribute to the running costs and rent, to give the centre a chance to develop for wider use.”
The Brooksbank Centre provides services such as child safety, money advice and community events.
Ginny said taking over Stobswell Medical Practice created new opportunities.
“We also provide space to many projects and groups that deliver activities to the people of Dundee,” she said.
“This is an opportunity to expand the services through various partners. We hope to work with a range of projects and organisations and open the premises to the public.
“Once we have a confirmed commitment from interested parties and have sorted out all the background matters, we will have an open day. We are not quite there yet.”
Colin Clement, of the Stobswell Forum, said: “We’re keen to get groups to move into the practice building to give people easy access to a range of services.”
