Man, 20, dies after serious city collision involving motorcycle and bin lorry

A 20-year-old man has died after a collision involving a motorcycle and skip lorry close to Perth city centre.

The incident happened at about 8.30am in Dunkeld Road outside the Stagecoach HQ, next to TK Maxx and Sports Direct.

A police statement said: “Police Scotland can confirm that, sadly, a 20 year old man who was involved in the serious road traffic collision on Dunkeld Road, Perth, has died.

“His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them.

“Dunkeld Road remains closed to allow investigation into the incident to take place, and will remain so for some time.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 0824 hours today to attend a road traffic collision on Dunkeld Road.

“We dispatched two ambulances, the Tayside trauma team and our Helimed air ambulance.

“The first unit arrived on scene within six minutes.”

All bus services to Perth are also delayed. A tweet from Stagecoach East Scot said: “All Perth city services are subject to delay due to a lorry accident on the Dunkeld rd. Sorry for the delay.”

Perth and Kinross Council has tweeted out details of bus diversions.
