A rogue driver is awaiting sentence after he admitted overtaking an ambulance which was on its way to an emergency.
Christopher Rawlinson, 31, admitted driving his black Honda Civic dangerously on the A91 St Andrews to Guardbridge road on January 25.
Rawlinson, who works as a chef de partie at The Old Course Hotel, failed to maintain an adequate stopping distance with a preceding ambulance, which was responding to an emergency.
A summary of evidence submitted to Dundee Sheriff Court revealed that although the ambulance had activated its blue lights, Rawlinson drove at excessive speed and overtook other vehicles which had stopped to let the ambulance pass.
Rawlinson, of Main Street, Guardbridge, then overtook the ambulance. He submitted a letter to the court pleading guilty. He stated: “I take full responsibility for my actions and I am truly sorry for what I have done.”
Sentence was deferred until later this month for Rawlinson to appear personally in court.
