A children’s charity has hit out at a thug who “horrifically” failed in his responsibility towards a baby girl.
Dale Thomson violently shook the nine-month-old child at a flat in Dundee in April after losing his temper over an Xbox game.
The child was left badly brain damaged.
Thomson also admitted assaulting a baby boy at a flat in Dundee while staying with the child’s mother in October 2010.
He was jailed for four years and eight months by Judge Lord Burns at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday.
A spokesman for NSPCC Scotland said: “Thomson inflicted appalling injuries on two defenceless babies who he was looking after at the time of the assaults.
“Babies and young children are completely dependent upon the adults who care for them and Thomson horrifically disregarded that responsibility.”
