Dundee striker Kenny Miller believes the Scottish FA felt compelled to impose a ban on goalkeeper Allan McGregor after taking no action over the incident with Celtic defender Kris Ajer.

Rangers and Scotland No 1 McGregor has failed to overturn his retrospective two-game suspension after being cited for his studs-up challenge on Lewis Ferguson during Gers’ recent 4-2 victory at Aberdeen.

That decision prompted the Ibrox club to call for a review of the “flawed” disciplinary system.

Miller said: “I think the fact that he has already been involved in two or three situations this season means that they’ve had to have a look at it.

“Maybe this was the one in the SFA’s eyes that they’ve had to uphold.”
