Cancer patients and their families can now visit a city library for information and support on living with the disease.
Dundee’s first Macmillan Cancer Support drop-in service has opened at Central Library in the Wellgate Centre.
The service will be run by a group of trained volunteers who can provide emotional and practical advice, information on various types of cancer and treatments, and can refer people on to other services, including benefits advice and help to get active.
Macmillan Cancer Support has invested about £200,000 and is working with Leisure & Culture Dundee to provide three new cancer information and support drop-in services in libraries across Dundee.
Janice Preston, Macmillan Cancer head of services, said: “Being able to access services locally is important.
“Working with Leisure & Culture Dundee is allowing us to deliver this and without partnerships like this we wouldn’t be able to provide this much-needed support to people affected locally.”
