Camperdown Wildlife Centre has announced that one of its bears has died.
Comet, who was a popular attraction at the zoo, passed away after almost 30 years in Dundee.
The European Brown bear was just last week diagnosed with having a tumour in his abdomen.
His condition deteriorated rapidly over the weekend and he sadly passed away.
Comet arrived at Camperdown from Edinburgh Zoo when he was 16 months old and was later joined by Star from the Highland Wildlife Park.
Aileen Whitelaw, Wildlife Centre Manager said: “Comet has been an important ambassador for Camperdown Wildlife Centre for almost 30 years and will be sorely missed.”
European brown bears are close relatives of the American grizzly bear and are of similar size, with an average life expectancy of 25 in the wild.
The mammals are mostly found in Spain, Italy and Romania.
