Busy road reopens after major police probe on Dundee street

A busy Dundee road has been reopened after a large cordon was set up after police discovered a “device” in a city home.

A major emergency response descended on Carlochie Place in Craigiebank around 1pm today.

The incident saw a bomb disposal team arrive shortly after and a bomb disposal robot could also be seen on Carlochie Place.

Police said there was no threat to the wider public but a 100m exclusion zone was put in place as a precaution and many homes were evacuated.

All road around the area were blocked off for more than an hour, causing huge tailbacks along the Kingsway and Arbroath Road around the Scott Fyffe Roundabout.

Police seal off Craigie Avenue, which remains closed.

By 3.30pm, Strips of Craigie was reopened, however, Greendykes, Carlochie Place and Craigie Avenue remained closed.

A man has been arrested in connection with the incident following a police search and inquiries remain ongoing.
