A former Dundee pet food company is to be reborn after being taken over by two Perthshire businessmen.
Father and son Iain and Craig Wallace purchased the name and assets of Wilson’s Pet Food after the Stannergate business closed down.
They have since invested around £750,000 in Blairgowrie to create the first purpose-built cold-pressed pet food factory in the UK, which is expected to be making new products next month.
December will also herald the opening of their frozen raw pet food factory at Perth and Kinross Council’s food and drink park in North Muirton.
The construction of both plants will lead to the firm creating 12 new jobs by the end of next year.
It will also offer apprenticeships in Blairgowrie.
Craig, who is working as managing director, said: “I didn’t want to see one of the oldest dog food companies in the country going under because no one wanted to run it.”
