Dundee Age Concern has been awarded £1,000 as part of the Persimmon Homes North Scotland Community Champions scheme.

The national match-funding initiative seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people.

Dundee Age Concern Fiveways Centre provides day care for older people where members can take part in a variety of activities and find companionship.

Patrick Delargy, senior manager at Age Concern Dundee, said: “Our Fiveways Day Centre is in urgent need of refurbishment, the money will allow us to update lighting and replace floor coverings as well as give the opportunity to install adequate ventilation solutions for our members.”

Iain Innes, managing director at Persimmon Homes North Scotland, said: “Dundee Age Concern offers a vital service to the older members in our community, and our decision to support this cause was an easy one.”
