BT has launched a bid to secure an occupant for a former gym in the city centre.
The unit, on Ward Road, beneath the company’s call centre, has been vacant since a women’s fitness company vacated it in early 2017.
It has been on the market since, and despite “some interest”, no one has taken it on.
Now, BT has applied for a change of use for the unit, opening it up for retail, professional services or business, as well as leisure.
A document submitted with the application stated: “Given the number of uses proposed by this application, each has been considered separately to assess the appropriateness of each use within a city centre location.
“The adopted plan clearly highlights the role which the city centre plays and states that it contains a variety of uses including retail, leisure and businesses.”
