Brave runners in Boxing Day plod around local beauty spot for charity

On Boxing Day most of us were still relaxing from the feast of food we had the day before — but for 221 runners it wasn’t such a chilled occasion.

Forfar Road Runners held its Plum Pudding Plod, which was open to all, with runners gathering at the town’s Lochside Leisure Centre for a 2.75-mile fun run that saw participants leave from the back of the centre and head out for an anti-clockwise loop around Forfar Loch.

The fastest runner was Andrew Woodroffe, who completed the run in just over 14 minutes, with road runner Catriona McLean awarded the club’s place in next year’s London Marathon.

Entry was £2, with all proceeds going to charity.
