Ben Leitch is continuing to prove he is one of Scotland’s bravest sporting youngsters.
A pupil at St John’s Academy in Perth, Ben has just turned 16 and is defying the odds.
He has a rare form of bone cancer and part of his left leg was removed.
However, the gutsy youngster hasn’t let it stop him enjoying a career in basketball.
Ben trains with Perth Phoenix and Dundee Dragons and plays wheelchair basketball for Lothian Phoenix.
Having been capped for Scotland at U/15, U/19 and U/23 level, Ben has now been selected for the Great Britain U/23 squad.
Proud mum Paula said: “Ben has just come back from a basketball camp in Sheffield and is delighted at his latest honour. He has also been nominated for the disabled award in the Perth and Kinross Sports Personality of the Year Awards.”
Fundraising is also under way to buy Ben a new custom-built wheelchair.
