Bomb disposal experts are carrying out a controlled explosion after a “suspicious incident” involving a vehicle parked outside a police station.
Cumbria Police said Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers were on the scene outside Workington police station and were set to carry out a controlled explosion following an assessment.
A force spokesman said there was no threat to the public.
Hall Brow has been closed while the explosion is carried out and members of the public have been asked to avoid the area.
The police did not release any more details about the incident.
